Construction Project Update

Dear Staff, Students and Families

We are very excited to report that on Monday, August 1, 2022 Ledgewood Construction Company will break ground at Winslow Elementary School for the purpose of adding four classrooms, two bathrooms, and two small utility spaces to the existing building. 

This project is made possible through the use of the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Funding (ESSER).   ESSER funds were allocated to communities during the COVID-19 Pandemic for the specific purpose of assisting school districts with a safe return to in person instruction.  Building construction in support of social distancing was one of the allowable uses of this funding source. 

We are proud to report that Winslow Public Schools is one of 20 school districts in the state who met all the requirements of the application process and were approved to move forward with a construction project using ESSER funding.

For Winslow, the opportunity to use ESSER funds to address social distancing could not have come at a better time.  With the decommissioning of the old jr. high, we have become a very efficient two building campus.   The additional classrooms at the elementary school will allow us the flexibility we need to better address our programming needs. 

The two story  addition will not impact the use of the existing building or current programming while under construction. The project has a completion date of June, 2023. 

A special thank you to the Winslow School Board, Town Council,  and members of the building committee who  gave countless hours of their time in order for this project to come to fruition for our students.
